St John's Church Roof Repairs
The major building contract to repair the roofs, gutters and drainage at St John’s Church has now been completed. The work was carried out by RMH Roofing Ltd of Lacock under the supervision of the Church Architect, Jarrod Hill of JH Consulting in Bath.
The work has involved the complete overhaul of the stone tiled roofs and gutters at the east end of the Church and the Porch roof, together with the drainage around the base of the Tower. This will have the effect of preventing numerous leaks and water penetration into the walls of the Church and we are now able to prepare to redecorate the interior of the building and upgrade the heating system as the walls dry out.
We received generous grants from the Listed Places of Worship Roof Repair Fund – a government scheme – and from the National Churches Trust for which we are very grateful. However a significant part of the cost has been raised from church members and local residents who value the part played by the Church in the local community of Batheaston. Thank you very much everyone!
Anyone who would still like to contribute to the cost of the roof work or the ongoing internal works should contact the church Treasurer, Mr John Cornfield, on firstname.lastname@example.org who will be delighted to hear from you.
